Safe product selection
Your safety is our number one priority.
Our products are clearly described and colour coded so you can be sure you are
choosing the right product for the job you want to do.
Remember – if you are based in the UK and selecting a product for use at work,
it must comply with the law, as set out in the
Work at Height Regulations.
Understand what you are buying
When choosing your equipment, you will need to know what the following terms
mean:
- Safe working height
- Duty rating
- Maximum static load
Safe working height
For ladders, steps and work platforms, this is 1.5 metres above the last safe
standing level. If there is no platform, this is typically three rungs/treads
from the top.
For access towers and platforms, this is 2 metres above the platform.
Duty rating
The duty rating means how much weight the product is designed to take. This includes
the user and their tools and materials, taking into account the extra load created
by the user’s movement.
Maximum static load
This is the maximum static load the product is designed to take when vertical.
This is calculated under test conditions with an extra safety factor added to
the test findings.
