The Youngman Group Specialist Access Division and Select Plant Hire have jointly
developed a Lorry Ladder to allow safe access to the flat bed of goods vehicles.
The Lorry Ladder has been designed, prototyped and commercialised by Youngman
and Select, who are owned by Laing O’Rourke, following a risk assessment which
showed that when transporting small machines, tower crane sections and test weights
by either flat bed articulated or 8 wheel rigid trucks there was often a need
to access the flat bed of the vehicle to attach straps to the tie down points.
Traditionally, drivers would use whatever means was available to climb onto the
vehicle. However, this new safe access solution offers the following features
and benefits:
- Use with existing flat bed vehicle fleets including curtain side vehicles
- Clamps firmly to the vehicle to prevent the ladder slipping or moving during
use
- Handrails which extend 1m above the bed of the vehicle
- Designed to be deployed at any position around the trailer
- Lightweight and robust
